Beach & Park Parking

Parking lots located in City Parks are reserved for Park patrons only during Park operating hours.  Parking is pull in only - back in parking is prohibited.  Parking is allowed in designated spots only.  Violators and unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense per City Ordinance 16-6.  Parking is free for Park patrons at all City Park parking lots except for North City Beach and South City Beach Parks.

Park parking lots close at posted Park closing hours.  Public parking at the North City Beach Park garage is available daily from 7am until 7pm.  Public parking at South City Beach Park is available daily from 7am until dusk.

Parking at the beach and metered street parking adjacent to Parks is convenient and affordable.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Electric Vehicle Chargers are available for Park patrons at Golden Isles Tennis Center, Peter Bluesten Park, and Sunrise Park. ChargePoint smart chargers are used at Golden Isles Tennis Center and Sunrise Park while Peter Bluesten Park has a dumb charger.  While charging is free for Park patrons, a $10 per hour overstay fee is charged at our smart chargers starting 30 minutes after the charge is completed.

Handicap Parking – North City Beach Park and South City Beach Park Parking Lots

Consistent with Florida Statute §316.1964 (8), City Code Section 28-137 stipulates; all drivers must pay to park in the City’s off-street parking facilities. Paid parking applies to all marked and designated handicapped spaces and all standard non-designated parking spaces.

Only the following motor vehicles are exempt from any parking fees:

A vehicle displaying the Florida Toll Exemption Permit.

A vehicle displaying the Disabled Veteran “DV” license plate.

A vehicle displaying a disabled parking permit which has specialized equipment such as ramps, lifts, or foot or hand controls.

Handicap Parking - On-Street Hourly Parking Adjacent to Parks

Vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit or license plate are allowed to park for free up to four (4) hours in any standard non-designated handicap space. After the time limit expires, the driver must pay the prevailing parking rate or risk a parking citation that carries a minimum fine amount of $39.00.  Complimentary parking is provided only once per 24-hour period.

Any vehicle which displays a disabled parking permit may park for free with no time limitation in any marked and designated on-street handicapped parking space.

In accordance with Florida Statute §320.0848, disabled Parking Permits & License Tags must be properly displayed (with an expiration date visible) and only used when the vehicle is transporting the person to whom the disabled permit is issued. If the permit owner is not being transported in the vehicle, the permit may not be used.

Holiday Beach Parking Rate

The Holiday Beach Parking Rate is in effect, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends at North City Beach Park and South City Beach Park.  Visit: Holiday Beach Parking for more information.
