SENIOR SERVICES

 

The Senior Services Section provides services to adults ages 60 and older. A Social Worker is available to provide information and referral, case management, job assistance, emergency food, rental and utility payment assistance, HIV/AIDS testing, health services and outreach. ACCESS Florida (apply on-line for food stamps, cash assistance and Medicaid). Services are free. For additional information or appointments call (954) 457-1460. Social services are available at the Hepburn Center, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Individuals who request assistance through Senior Services are required to participate in an intake and assessment process, and must show proof of identity, proof of address, income verification, proof of citizenship or legal residency status and any other documentation that will show proof for requested services.

This project is funded by the Department of Elder Affairs; Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and The City of Hallandale Beach.

SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER

 

The Hepburn Center operates a program Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm for residents 60 years or older. A comprehensive schedule of services and activities are provided to enhance the ability of senior citizens to maintain their independence, improve socialization skills, provide counseling, medical, housing and legal aid.
    Program services include:
  • Transportation to and from the Center
  • Continental breakfast
  • Arts and crafts
  • Computer classes
  • Music
  • Enhance Fitness
  • Education forums
  • Field trips
  • Nutritious lunch
  • Special Events

A Social Worker is assigned to provide counseling, case management and referrals for seniors in need of services. You must register for the programs to participate. Please contact Senior Services at (954) 457-1460.

SENIOR COMPUTER CLASSES



 The Human Services Department provides classes for older adults 60 years and older who may not have computer skills. Training is conducted by a certified instructor from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM every Monday. Classes are available for: Windows, Microsoft Word and Applications, Advanced Word Processing, Internet and Email.
