What is the Census?
The census is a count of every person who lives in the United States and its territories. It happens every 10 years. Responding to the 2020 Census is a chance to shape your future. Help the City of Hallandale Beach get its fair share of the $1.5 trillion in federal funding available for schools, education, housing assistance, public transportation, roads, infrastructure, public services and programs, hospitals and health centers, and disaster recovery. All it takes is 10 minutes of your time to complete your census. Your response will make a difference for the next 10 years. It’s never been easier to respond! Here is a video from Mayor Joy Cooper shows us how easy it is to complete our online Census 2020 questionnaire.
2020 Census Operational Adjustments Due to COVID-19
The 2020 Census is underway, and more than half of the households across America have responded and more are responding every day. Online, phone, and mailed self-responses will continue throughout the data collection process. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the U.S. Census Bureau has adjusted 2020 Census operations in order to:
- Protect the health and safety of the American public and Census Bureau employees.
- Implement the guidance from federal, state, and local authorities regarding COVID-19.
- Ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities.
